Trent Rockets continued their perfect start to The Hundred 2025 season by defeating Northern Superchargers by five wickets at Trent Bridge. This was their second win in two matches, following a victory over Birmingham Phoenix just two days earlier. Playing in front of their home crowd for the first time this year, the Rockets delivered a confident performance, controlling the game for most of the evening even though the Superchargers fought hard to make it close.
The Superchargers, led by coach Andrew Flintoff, batted first but could only manage 124 for 9 from their 100 balls. Despite having talented batters like Harry Brook and Graham Clark, they struggled to score freely on a dry pitch that offered grip to the bowlers. “I was grateful for that start and happy to put my team in a good position early. The two ends of the pitch played differently — one was sticky and gripped the ball, the other was low and skiddy, so it was about figuring out what worked at each end and sticking to that plan.”
He also praised the team spirit within the Rockets squad:
“It’s a happy bunch, a talented bunch, and we all have one goal. Whenever the ball is thrown to us, it’s our opportunity to make it happen. Even if it’s not your day in The Hundred 2025, you know your teammates have your back.”
On the close finish, Hosein added:
“I walked across from the dressing room without my pads on because I was confident the boys would finish it off. It got a little closer than we wanted, but the important thing is we got over the line.”
With this win, Trent Rockets have now started The Hundred 2025 with two consecutive victories, looking strong in both batting and bowling departments. The challenge for them will be to maintain this momentum as the tournament progresses.
