The Kings chased down the target with ease, winning by seven wickets with 18 balls to spare and moving to the top of the points table.
Rizwan Stands Tall But Patriots Fall Short in CPL 2025
Asked to bat first by Kings’ captain David Wiese, the Patriots tried to set up a big total but couldn’t quite accelerate when it mattered. The powerplay started well enough, with Andre Fletcher striking freely as the Patriots reached 57 for 1 after six overs. However, the momentum faded quickly.
Tabraiz Shamsi, playing a vital role in CPL 2025, dismissed Fletcher, who mistimed a big shot and was caught by Johnson Charles. From there, the run rate dropped, and Shamsi tightened the screws with a brilliant spell of 2 for 17 in his four overs. His accuracy and variations kept the Patriots from cutting loose, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Rizwan’s knock was the one bright spot for the Patriots. Coming in at No. 3, he anchored the innings with an unbeaten 60 off 41 deliveries, putting together two important partnerships. First, he added 71 runs with Kyle Mayers (27 off 25), and later shared an unbroken stand of 37 with Jason Holder (21* off 14). Still, the scoring rate never quite matched the conditions, which were perfect for batting. Their total of 177 for 3 in CPL 2025 felt 15–20 runs short of what was needed.

The Kings’ reply was nothing short of explosive. Though Kyle Mayers began with a tight first over that went for just five runs, Johnson Charles wasted no time attacking Naseem Shah in the second. Boundaries flowed from both ends, and soon the run chase turned into a one-sided affair in CPL 2025.
The second, third, and fifth overs yielded 13, 18, and 21 runs respectively, lifting the Kings to 72 by the end of the powerplay. Charles was in devastating form, smashing 47 off just 17 balls and ensuring the Patriots’ bowlers were under constant pressure. His fireworks had the fans on their feet and the Kings in complete control.
Waqar Salamkheil finally broke the partnership by dismissing Charles in the seventh over, but the damage was already done. Tim Seifert, who began cautiously with a run-a-ball 15, accelerated beautifully and went on to score 68 from 45 balls. His partnerships with Charles and Ackeem Auguste (29 off 20) made the chase smooth and clinical in CPL 2025.
Auguste’s quick-fire innings added further momentum, and though Seifert fell in the 15th over, the target was already within touching distance. The batting display from the Kings highlighted why they are such a strong contender in this year’s CPL 2025.
Kings Rise to the Top of CPL 2025 Table
With the foundation laid by their openers, the finishing job was simple for the middle order. Roston Chase (15*) and Tim David (16*) ensured there were no hiccups, completing the chase by the 17th over. It was another example of how the Kings’ batting unit can dismantle bowling attacks in CPL 2025.
The result had major implications for the points table. St Lucia Kings moved to the top spot with eight points from six games, underlining their dominance in CPL 2025. For the Patriots, though, it was a frustrating evening. Rizwan’s valiant effort went in vain as their bowlers failed to contain the aggressive opening pair. With only four points from seven matches, their campaign in CPL 2025 is now under serious pressure.
Shamsi’s brilliant spell and signature shoe-phone celebration were standout moments, reminding fans why he remains one of the most effective spinners in T20 cricket. Alongside the batting heroics of Charles and Seifert, the Kings once again showed why they are among the strongest teams in CPL 2025.
