The victory, led by skipper Shubman Gill, snapped MI’s six-match winning streak and helped GT climb to the top of the points table.
The match, held on May 6, had it all rain interruptions, swinging momentum, and last-over chaos. After opting to bowl first, GT struck early with Mohammed Siraj and Arshad Khan removing MI openers cheaply. However, Will Jacks’ rapid 29-ball fifty and a steady 35 from Suryakumar Yadav helped MI post a competitive total, with GT’s R Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan impressing with tight spells.
The chase, however, was anything but smooth for GT.
