Bangladesh cricket is facing a tense moment as major Dhaka clubs threaten to boycott domestic tournaments. In response, BCB warns boycotting clubs as First Division deadlines approach. The board has made it clear that cricket will continue—with or without the protesting clubs.
BCB Takes a Firm Stand as League Approaches
Tension began after the recent BCB election, when several organisers claimed the results were unfair and influenced. This led to a massive protest where 45 out of 72 clubs publicly joined a boycott. As uncertainty grew, the First Division League was postponed multiple times. But now, BCB warns boycotting clubs as First Division preparations are officially underway.
During a press conference at Mirpur, BCB vice-president Faruque Ahmed clearly stated that the First Division League will start on December 14, no matter what. He explained that every team knows the bylaws and the consequences of skipping a tournament. According to him, BCB warns boycotting clubs as First Division rules allow the board to remove or demote clubs that do not participate.
Faruque emphasised that delays only hurt players and Bangladesh cricket. He said the board cannot sit idle and will create alternative events—such as Victory Day cricket—if needed. Once again, he reminded that BCB warns boycotting clubs as First Division guidelines must be followed by all teams.

Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal played a key role by urging his club Old DOHS to participate. Meanwhile, CCDM chairman Adnan Rahman Dipon confirmed that fixtures will be released with all 20 teams included. No club has officially submitted a withdrawal letter, even though several have announced the boycott publicly. This means BCB warns boycotting clubs as First Division status remains unchanged until any formal statement is made.
Clubs ready to play include Shinepukur, Uttara, Police, Sheikh Jamal, Lalmatia, Bashundhara Riders, Prime Doleshwar, Old DOHS, Dhaka Spartans, Blues Cricketers, Baridhara Dazzles and BKSP. Eight clubs still remain unsure, but the board’s stance is crystal clear: BCB warns boycotting clubs as First Division rules will be strictly applied and cricket will move forward—no matter what.
