Aakash Chopra has criticized KL Rahul for his recent slump in form, particularly highlighting his struggles as Delhi Capitals’ batting order continues to underperform in IPL 2025. Despite being a key player for DC, Rahul’s inconsistency has raised concerns, with Chopra pointing out that the star batter has “gone off the boil.” The team, which is fighting for a playoff spot, has struggled with top-order collapses, and Rahul’s failure to deliver has added to their woes. Chopra also took aim at the team’s management for not securing a replacement for Harry Brook, further adding to the pressure on DC’s campaign.
Aakash Chopra Slams KL Rahul and Delhi Capitals for Batting Failures, Critiques Recent Performance

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has been vocal in his criticism of KL Rahul’s recent form slump, especially after another underwhelming performance in Delhi Capitals’ (DC) rain-affected match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2025. Despite earning a point in the rain-hit game, DC’s batting struggles continue to raise concerns, with their playoff hopes hanging by a thread. Sitting fifth in the points table with 13 points from 11 games, the team’s inconsistency with the bat is making their top-four finish increasingly uncertain.
Chopra didn’t hold back when analyzing DC’s batting lineup, pointing out the misfiring performances of several key players, including KL Rahul. He stated, “Your batting is not firing. You lost faith in Jake Fraser-McGurk. Faf du Plessis has hardly played one or two knocks. Karun Nair has played one knock. Abishek Porel has played two-and-a-half knocks. KL Rahul has played a few knocks, but he has gone off the boil.” According to Chopra, DC’s top order has failed to provide stability, repeatedly collapsing under pressure, a major reason for their ongoing slump.
The match against SRH saw DC in a dire position at 29/5 before Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma stepped in as unlikely heroes to help the team post 133/7. Chopra also expressed concern about the team’s management, criticizing their decision not to replace Harry Brook, who withdrew from the tournament before it started. He added, “Where is your replacement for Brook? They haven’t taken one, and won’t get it as well if they don’t take it in the next two days. That story has ended for them.”
With their top order underperforming and their playoff dreams hanging by a thread, DC’s struggles continue to grow. Chopra’s assessment raises crucial questions about their strategy moving forward in the tournament.
