Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha recently shared a funny and heartwarming memory from an old tour of Sri Lanka that involved none other than Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, and Yuvraj Singh. Speaking about their early days in international cricket, Ojha recalled how he, Rohit, and Yuvraj then newcomers once faced a light-hearted punishment from the legendary Dravid for taking too long to finish their meal.
“We were staying at the Taj Samundra. Rohit, Yuvi, and I often ate together. One day, we took too long to finish our food, and Rahul Dravid bhai told us to run in a vacant area outside the hotel. It was his way of disciplining us,” Ojha laughed while sharing the incident.
At the time, the Indian squad was filled with icons like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Anil Kumble. The anecdote gives fans a peek into the fun, family-like atmosphere of the Indian dressing room, where seniors like Dravid led with both authority and a sense of humor.
Ojha also spoke fondly of Rohit Sharma’s early wisdom. He shared a valuable piece of advice Rohit gave him during their U19 days: “If you want to play for India for a long time, you have to become a match-winner.”
