Jos Buttler Hails IPL as a “Brilliant Academy” for Young Cricketer

Gujarat Titans’ star batter Jos Buttler has praised the Indian Premier League (IPL), calling it an “incredible academy” for young cricketers. Speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘Gen Gold’ show, the Englishman highlighted how the IPL exposes young players to high-pressure situations early in their careers, helping them grow faster than ever. “It’s amazing exposure for young players to perform under high pressure and expectations. As overseas players, we can’t fully grasp the pressure they face, but they handle it brilliantly,” Buttler said. He also praised GT skipper Shubman Gill, calling him a “calm leader” and a “great communicator” who builds strong connections within the team.
Buttler, who moved from Rajasthan Royals to Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2025, admitted the transition felt different but refreshing. He spoke highly of GT’s positive team environment, led by head coach Ashish Nehra. “The setup here is very relaxed and chilled. I’ve enjoyed working with Ashish Nehra, who maintains a fun, positive atmosphere,” Buttler noted. Reflecting on his time at RR, Buttler said he would always cherish the memories and friendships built there, particularly his bond with Sanju Samson. “While time moves on and I’m now with a new franchise, I’ll always look back fondly at the friendships and memories we built they’ll stand the test of time,” Jos Buttler concluded.
