Dwayne Bravo Says Not Only Russell, Whole KKR Team Is Struggling

After Kolkata Knight Riders’ loss to Gujarat Titans, KKR bowling coach Dwayne Bravo spoke openly about the team’s struggles. He said that Andre Russell is not the only player underperforming, as the whole batting unit is facing issues. While players like Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi have done well, the middle-order batsmen, including Russell, Rinku Singh, and Ramandeep Singh, haven’t played to their potential. Bravo explained that when a team doesn’t start well in the IPL, it can affect players’ confidence. He urged the team to stay focused, keep working hard, and avoid blaming the pitch for their losses.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ title defence in IPL 2025 is not going as planned. With just three wins in their first eight matches, the defending champions find themselves in a tough spot after a heavy 39-run loss to Gujarat Titans. Following the defeat, KKR bowling coach Dwayne Bravo came forward to address the team’s issues, making it clear that Andre Russell isn’t the only one underperforming.

Bravo, while speaking in the post-match press conference, admitted that KKR’s batting unit is collectively low on confidence, especially the middle order. While Ajinkya Rahane and young Angkrish Raghuvanshi have impressed, big names like Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, and Russell have yet to find their rhythm. Bravo emphasized that the entire squad needs to regroup and stay mentally focused.

Despite fans raising concerns about the Eden Gardens pitch, Bravo refused to shift blame, saying the pitch was fair for both teams and KKR simply didn’t perform well enough across all departments.

With playoffs slipping out of reach, KKR need a dramatic turnaround — and fast.
