Star Indian player Ravindra Jadeja has decided to stop playing T20I cricket. He announced he’s retiring from the shortest form of the game on Sunday, June 30, in a post on Instagram.
Jadeja was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa at Kensington Oval. In the final over, he batted briefly and scored two runs off two balls. He bowled only one over and gave away 12 runs.
Even though Jadeja didn’t perform his best in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, he has delivered outstanding performances for India in T20 cricket before.

5. 1/16 and 2 run-outs vs Australia, MCG, 2012
Ravindra Jadeja won his first Best Player award in T20 matches for bowling very well against Australia in 2012. The match took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on February 3, 2012. India prevented Australia from scoring too many runs, with Praveen Kumar and Rahul Sharma each taking two wickets. Jadeja bowled three overs, giving away only 16 runs, and got David Hussey out when he had scored 24 runs. Jadeja also contributed by running out Aaron Finch and George Bailey. India won the match comfortably.

4. 3/16 vs Namibia, T20 World Cup 2021
Even though the match didn’t change who would win the T20 World Cup, it was still an important game. Jadeja bowled very well, getting 3 wickets for only 16 runs. He got Stephen Baard out LBW, had Craig Williams stumped, and caught JJ Smit out.
Namibia could only score 132 runs with 8 wickets lost in their 20 overs. India easily reached the target, scoring 136 runs with just 1 wicket lost in 15.2 overs, winning the match by nine wickets. Jadeja deservedly won the Man of the Match award for his impressive performance, taking three important wickets.
3. Ravindra Jadeja’s best bowling performance – 3/15 vs Scotland, T20 World Cup 2021
In a match that didn’t change the final outcome, India needed to win against Scotland to keep their chances alive for the semifinals. They won easily by eight wickets, with Ravindra Jadeja taking three key wickets. Scotland scored just 85 runs before their team was all out. Jadeja was awarded the player of the match for his excellent performance.
2. 44* (23) vs Australia, 2020
Jadeja never scored 50 runs in a T20I match, but he played crucial quick innings many times. One of his best performances was against Australia at Manuka Oval on December 4, 2020.
Despite KL Rahul scoring 50 runs, India faced difficulties at 114/6 in the match. Then Jadeja scored 44 runs from only 23 balls, including five fours and a six. India finished with 161/7 in 20 overs and eventually won by 11 runs.
1. Ravindra Jadeja’s best batting performance – 46*(29) vs England, 2022
Two years ago, Jadeja made his highest T20I score of 46 not out against England at Edgbaston. India started well on July 9, 2022, reaching 61/1. But England quickly took five wickets, and India dropped to 89/5.
Then, Ravindra Jadeja played a superb innings, scoring 46 runs from 29 balls with five fours. India reached 170 runs and won the match by 49 runs.
